This redevelopment and expansion of a well-loved community center and park began with an intensive community visioning process in 2020. Through a series of activities, including a giant chalkboard, multiple surveys, an interactive project website, focus groups, and participation in community events, multiple design options were developed and refined with the community. Working closely with Parks and Recreation staff and in response to community feedback, a preferred design was developed into construction documents and constructed in 2025. The park rejuvenates the historically well-loved Wells Park Community Center, offering a neighborhood park and community-wide destination. The park is activated by multi-use courts, a mini urban dog park, a playground, a food truck court, and other flexible-use spaces.
