The Tree New Mexico Urban Forestry and Build Green Center transforms a neglected 5.6-acre site in the South Valley into a living laboratory for restoration, education, and tree cultivation. Anthropopulus worked with Tree NM to envision a permanent home for their office, nursery, and tree-giveaway operations. A schematic design and multiple renderings were developed for Tree NM to use in fundraising efforts and initial permitting.

Multiple site visits, a tree inventory, work days on site, client conversations, and an internal staff survey to understand functional desires helped guide the design. The plan also considers incremental volunteer-driven implementation and existing infrastructure reuse to conserve costs and connect people to the site. By foregrounding ecological processes, the project demonstrates a replicable model for growing resilient urban forests and building capacity for stewardship in arid environments.
