Project Name: Santa Clara Landscape Parkway - Part of the Southwest NM Community Forestry Network Action Plans
Client: Integrated Biological Solutions
Location: Santa Clara, NM
Year: 2025
In partnership with the Southwest Community Forestry Network (SWCFN), Anthropopulus developed designs for landscape parkways along Fort Bayard Road in Santa Clara, NM. Due to a shallow gas line, the typical green stormwater infrastructure installation of curb cuts and swales wasn’t feasible in this location. The team applied Kenton Seth and Paul Sprigg’s concept of a crevice garden to the parkways. Crevice gardens mimic the environment of rocky outcroppings by placing flagstone vertically on its side, and filling the spaces in between with a sandy soil, creating small cracks and basins for water to collect and plants to thrive. Community members and SWCFN volunteers installed the crevice gardens in the summer of 2025.
